Biography

Robert Kimura co-founded WAFS with Maggie Chen in 2014, driven by a conviction that tax planning and financial planning should never operate in separate silos.

Before founding WAFS, Robert spent 12 years at a large regional bank's wealth management division advising high-net-worth families. Time and again, he saw brilliant investment strategies undermined by inefficient tax structures, simply because the wealth manager and the CPA only spoke once a year—if at all.

His dual CPA and CFP® credentials allow him to serve as the integrating voice for his clients. He specializes in seeing the whole board: understanding how a Roth conversion affects this year's tax bill, how a business exit should be structured for multi-generational wealth, and how estate documents need to align with current investment strategies.

Robert serves on the Seattle Estate Planning Council and is a board member of the Japanese American Citizens League, Seattle chapter. He lives in Mercer Island with his family.

"The most expensive mistakes our clients make aren't investment errors. They are coordination errors. When your legal, tax, and investment strategies aren't talking to each other, you leave money on the table."
